Brain metastases (BM), occurring in 10-30% of adult cancer patients, are an important cause of morbidity and mortality. The prognosis of patients with BM is generally poor, with a median survival time of 2-6 months. Whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT) has been advocated as the primary treatment for metastatic brain cancer. WBRT injures small cerebral vasculature and neuropil, effects linked to imaging-defined white matter changes. However, information on the neurocognitive function(NCF) impact of WBRT in BM patients is also limited. This study aims to explore and evaluate the impact of NCF in patients with multiple brain metastases...
The Multi-OutcoMe EvaluatioN of radiation Therapy Using the Unity MR-Linac Study (MOMENTUM) is a multi-institutional, international registry facilitating evidenced based implementation of the Unity MR-Linac technology and further technical development of the MR-Linac system with the ultimate purpose to improve patients' survival, local, and regional tumor control and quality of life.
The PIONEER Initiative stands for Precision Insights On N-of-1 Ex vivo Effectiveness Research. The PIONEER Initiative is designed to provide access to functional precision medicine to any cancer patient with any tumor at any medical facility. Tumor tissue is saved at time of biopsy or surgery in multiple formats, including fresh and cryopreserved as a living biospecimen. SpeciCare assists with access to clinical records in order to provide information back to the patient and the patient's clinical care team. The biospecimen tumor tissue is stored in a bio-storage facility and can be shipped anywhere the patient and the clinical team...
The purpose of this study is to test any good and bad effects of a study drug called abemaciclib (LY2835219) in patients with recurrent brain tumors.
The investigators will develop the concept of a sex-specific therapeutic intervention for gliomas that is based upon dietary carbohydrate restriction. The investigators will integrate metabolomics tools and FDG-PET imaging to validate the ketogenic diet on a sex-specific basis.
This study is to collect and validate regulatory-grade real-world data (RWD) in oncology using the novel, Master Observational Trial construct. This data can be then used in real-world evidence (RWE) generation. It will also create reusable infrastructure to allow creation or affiliation with many additional RWD/RWE efforts both prospective and retrospective in nature.
Brain metastasis is the most common neurological complication in tumor patients, and lung cancer is the most common tumor with brain metastasis. The prognosis of patients with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis is poor. If not treated, the median survival time was about 1 month, the median survival time for steroid therapy was about 2 to 3 months, and the median survival time for patients receiving whole brain radiotherapy was about 3 to 6 months. Studies have shown that the incidence of brain metastasis is not only related to tumor size, N stage and tumor cell type, but also more likely to occur in NSCLC patients with ...
The trial is designed as a multicenter randomized controlled study. 246 patients with presumed Glioblastoma Multiforme in eloquent areas on diagnostic MRI will be selected by the neurosurgeons according the eligibility criteria (see under). After written informed consent is obtained, the patient will be randomized for an awake craniotomy (AC) (+/-123 patients) or craniotomy under general anesthesia (GA) (+/-123 patients), with 1:1 allocation ratio. Under GA the amount of resection of the tumour has to be performed within safe margins as judged by the surgeon during surgery. The second group will be operated with an awake craniotomy ...
Headache is a very common main complaint of patients with GH pituitary tumor, which has seriously affected the normal work and life of patients. Although the current surgery and drugs have a certain effect on patients with headache, the overall effect is not satisfied. However, the use of COX-2 inhibitors, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and other analgesics are only effective for some patients with headaches, and long-term use has adverse reactions. Therefore, it is necessary to seek new treatments for postoperative headaches in patients with GH pituitary tumors. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) modulates the ...
The limitation of treating intrinsic brain pathologies has been circumvented with neurosurgical techniques; however, less invasive approaches may be desirable particularly for widespread or multifocal disease and when long term and repetitive administration is required. This study seeks to investigate the efficacy of focused ultrasound combined with microbubbles in opening the blood brain barrier. Patients with either low grade gliomas or neurodegenerative dementias will be evaluated for study candidacy. Participants will receive an intravenous infusion of Definity micro bubbles in tandem with focused ultrasound; a pre-and-post...
